Dr. Bhooshan Balkrishna Pandit is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist and Endoscopist practicing in Thane and Mumbai. Dr. Pandit is also attached to Dr. LH Hiranandani Hospital in Powai, Jupiter Hospital in Thane, and Currae Hospital in Thane.
Dr. Bhooshan Pandit passed all his medical degree examinations in the first attempt. He was a First Class student throughout his academic career, right from the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination. At the DM (Gastroenterology) examination of 2002 he was ranked first in the University of Mumbai and bagged a Gold Medal for his efforts.
During his three years as Senior Resident in the Department of Gastroenterology at BYL Nair Hospital while training for the DM exam Dr. Pandit gained experience and expertise in all diagnostic and therapeutic Gastroenterology procedures. He was well trained in all elective and emergency therapeutic procedures such as esophageal, pyloric and colonic dilatations, variceal sclerotherapy, injection of bleeding peptic ulcer, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, polypectomies and foreign body removal. He performed and reported pH monitoring and assisted in manometries. He assisted in over 300 diagnostic and therapeutic ERCPs, and performed a few in residency.
After obtaining the DM degree, Dr. Pandit rejoined the Gastroenterology department at Nair Hospital and TNM Medical College from October 2002 to May 2004 as a Lecturer. He underwent training in therapeutic endoscopies and especially in ERCPs, and gained extensive hands-on, independent experience. Dr. Pandit attended all major endoscopy workshops and training programs conducted by renowned trainers such as Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy, Dr. GV Rao, Dr. Amit Maydeo and Dr. Philip Augustin. He also had the opportunity to interact with international Endoscopy faculty such as Dr. Norman Marcon and Dr. Greg Haber.
During his stint at Nair Hospital, Dr. Pandit performed about 250 diagnostic and therapeutic ERCPs and a large no of UGI and colonoscopies. He performed many PEGs, esophageal and biliary metal stentings, EMRs and APC applications. At present he is continuing to perform extensive therapeutic endoscopic procedures and ERCPs on video and fiberoptic endoscopes at various hospitals.
